On August 26, 2018, Russia’s largest trade fair and business center Crocus City held the international competition in triathlon at the distance spanning 1/8 of the full “Ironman” one. It included 500 m swimming + 22 km cycling + 5 km running.

After the swimming stage, which started from board of a ship, participants turned to bicycles, and then to running. The race turned out to be dynamic and spectacular due to the short distance and the permission of drafting (a technique of group movement, in which the next participant of the group moves closely behind the leader, thereby reducing his own energy loss to overcome the air resistance).

Andrei Kavun, IRONSTAR CEO:
“We were lucky with the weather. It was a very creative idea to deliver the participants to the opposite bank by steamboat. The event turned out very emotional. The Pavshinsky footbridge was filled with people watching the swimming stage of the competition. So far, we have got only positive feedback about the track and the venue. Visitors to Crocus City and Russian Fitness Fair today very enthusiastically supported athletes. So, most likely, the next year, these competitions will also be held in Crocus.”

Dmitry Rostyagaev, the winner in the overall classification among men:
“At the first race, I tried to save as much power as possible for the final. I was familiar with all the major rivals, so I had a clear idea who my rivals were. In the final, there were strong guys, so I had to solve even tactical issues to keep enough strength to compete.”
