ETU Age Group Sprint Triathlon European Championships Kazan 2019 in photos and facts

The competition for Age Groups athletes took place in the time frame of the ETU European Triathlon Championships in Kazan, Russia - on 28 July 2019. Sprint distance in triathlon is a swim - 750 m, bike - 20 km, and run - 5 km.

This distance is also the main course for all events of the Masters category (Age Groups competitions).

The 456 competitors on the start list were dominated by just two countries – Russia, provided 253 athletes, followed by Great Britain with 118 and then only Germany (15). Thus, Russia and Great Britain in combination provided more than 90% of the starters between them.

Things aren’t quite as one-sided when looking at the medal table: Great Britain lead the way (31) with Russia next (25), those 56 medals accounting for 75% of the Gold / Silver / Bronze issued. The 15 German athletes collected 8 medals between them (and another three athletes finished fourth), while in total 10 nations made a podium appearance.
