IRONMAN series triathlon events will continue both in Otepää and Tallinn in 2019

28th June 2018, registration was opened for IRONMAN 70.3 Otepää 2019, which was last year ranked as the best in the world by the participants and this year had a record number of competitors from Estonia.

IRONMAN series first half distance triathlon in Otepää was in 2016 and after a three year period the triathlon in Otepää will be happening again next year on 15 June 2019. Today registration was opened for the general public.

IRONMAN 70.3 Otepää Triathlon (70.3 stands for 1,9 km swim, 90 km bike and 21,1 km run) was completed on 16 June by 610 individual competitors and 57 teams from nearly 30 countries. In addition to the main event there were Zoot Open Water Swim Race, Seve Ehitus’ Charity Run, Pom’bel IRONKIDS children’s competitions and Telia 4:18:4 Otepää short triathlon. In total participants during the weekend with close to 1500 and thousands of spectators.

“I am very happy that this year we had more competitors from Estonia than ever before who completed the half distance triathlon and that last year the participants rated us as the best triathlon competition in the world out of more than 100 events,” said race director Ain-Alar Juhanson. “The development of triathlon in Estonia in the last few years has been unbelievably fast thanks to different role models and partners; at more than one occasion competitions have been sold out,” added Juhanson.

Ain-Alar Juhanson: “Taking part in longer triathlon distances needs consistent preparation, which is why I recommend to register quickly and set yourself athletic goals. This helps the participant, triathlon clubs, coaches as well as the organizers of different sports events.”

IRONMAN 70.3 Otepää 2019 will offer tiered tricing based on slot inventory rather than dates for this event. Once slots are sold at each level the price will go up.

The best in the age groups at IRONMAN 70.3 Otepää on June 15, 2019 will get a chance to participate at the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships 2019 on 7-8 September in Nice, France.

Starting with this summer Estonia has two IRONMAN series triathlons: on 16th June we had IRONMAN 70.3 Otepää half distance triathlon and on 4th August will be IRONMAN Tallinn full distance triathlon, which has already more than 1300 participants from close to 50 countries.

In 2019 the IRONMAN series triathlons in Estonia will continue with IRONMAN 70.3 Otepää on 15th June and IRONMAN Tallinn full distance triathlon on 3rd August next year.
