Estonia became part of the IRONMAN Triathlon events in 2016. A world class event now hosted in Otepää unite the thousands athletes at the most popular competition place in Estonia! In 2018, the IRONMAN 70.3 Otepää will take place on 16 June and, in addition, on 4 August, there will be an IRONMAN Tallinn 2018 in the capital of Estonia.
Over 2,000 participants from 50 countries have registered to take part in the IRONMAN Triathlons in Estonia!
A half-distance Ironman is 70.3 miles (113 km) long altogether. Triathlon IRONMAN 70.3 Otepää is 1,93 km swim, 90 km bike, 21,1 km run.

The IRONMAN 70.3 Otepää Triathlon offers thousands of people a superb opportunity to enjoy beautiful nature and an interesting course. Otepää is well known as the venue of Rally Estonia, FIS Cross-Country World Cup events as well as the starting place of the Worldloppet Tartu Ski Marathon.

Swimming will take place in Lake Pühajärv, the cycling course will go by lakes, over hills and through forests. The challenging run course will go along the shores of Lake Pühajärv. The finish will be in the park of the Pühajärv SPA Hotel; athletes, their family members as well as spectators – everybody will have a great time in Otepää.

The course IRONMAN 70.3 Otepää
The swim is one loop (1,93 km) in Pühajärve lake, from a sandy beach, round an island and back. The water temperature is around 20 degrees.

The bike course (90 km) is undulating – never flat but with no big hills, with a total climb of 650m. The course is out-and-back-twice, from Otepää to Kanepi, so you can always see other athletes coming in the other direction. The road surface is excellent, and the roads are closed to traffic.

The run (21,1 km) is a two laps of the lake – but you are on closed country lanes rather than the lake shore, and there is one memorable hill (which you run up twice), and a couple of smaller ones.
