
Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia keeps the momentum going when it comes to the best female triathletes coming to race at the Baltic Sea. Having seen Daniela Ryf and Mirinda Carfrae finish the race on the sandy beach in Gdynia last year, now it is Helle Frederiksen who confirmed her participation in the upcoming event on August 11, 2019. The starting list already sees athletes from 44 different countries.

Helle Frederiksen has had an extremely successful triathlon career. The Danish professional triathlete started with the Olympic triathlon, having won 5 ETU European Cup events. She once made it to the podium at the ITU World Cup and eventually made her dreams come true representing Denmark at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

In 2013, she made a transition to long course triathlon. Since then, she has won nine IRONMAN 70.3 events. In 2014, she triumphed in Challenge Bahrain recording 3:55:50 – to this date the best time by a woman on the 1.9 – 90 – 21.1 km distance. In 2017 she finished fifth at the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships and won the ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships the following year.

Triathlon Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia takes place on August 11, 2019. Currently, there are athletes from 44 different countries on the starting list: 
– The race is becoming more and more international. Currently, almost 30% of registered athletes comes from abroad, which is 4 times higher rate than when we started in 2015 – says Piotr Jakóbik, event’s marketing director. – Apart from relays that are sold out already, athletes can still register for the half distance and the sprint competition. Meanwhile, kids and youngsters are strongly invited to take part in the Wiśniowski IRONKIDS Gdynia – he adds.

Athletes swim in the Baltic Sea, then take on a challenging, one-loop bike course leading through the picturesque Kashubia region in order to come back to town for the running stage, held on three loops in the city center and along the sea boulevards. Beach finish with a loud cheering crowd is the race’s icing on the cake.
