Marathon or Half Marathon? In Lodz 2018 you can decide during the race!

You want to run the marathon in the spring, but you do not know if you can do it? In Lodz you can make a decision even during the race! This year, a half-marathon will take place in Lodz as part of DOZ Marathon 2018.

For the first eighteen kilometers the route of the marathon and half marathon go identically, and the participants run together. Later, the routes of both runs diverge - says Michał Drelich, director of the DOZ Lodz Marathon 2018. – Up to this point, every participant in the marathon will be able to change the distance and run to the finish in Atlas Arena after 21, not 42 kilometers. He does not have to report his decision to anyone beforehand. What’s more, at the finish line he will receive the medal of finishing the half-marathon and will classified at this distance – he adds.

The organizers of the DOZ Lodz Marathon 2018 will prepare a larger number of medals at the half-marathon distance, so there is no risk that they will run out of awards for athletes that will change the distance during the competition.

The DOZ Lodz Marathon has a limit of 2,000 participants, and in Lodz Half Marathon 2018 it can take a maximum of 3,000 people. Within three weeks of starting the registration to the largest running event in the Lodz region, over 1700 competitors from Poland and abroad have a registered.

2018 DOZ Lodz Marathon will start at 9:00 on Sunday 15 April (Start at the Bandurskiego Street).

As part of this three-day event from 13 till 15 April 2018 in Lodz, apart from the marathon and half-marathon, there will also be a number of accompanying events such as 5km run, Ekiden Relay, Kids Run and sports exhibition in Atlas Arena.

Finish is on Atlas Arena. For each participants, a pasta party, hot meal at the finishing line and medal with a T-shirt of event!
