
The famous triathlon couple – Mirinda Carfrae (AUS) and Timothy O’Donnell (USA) – have confirmed they are set to triathlon race in Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia, in Northern Poland on August 5th, 2018.

Mirinda Carfrae (born 26 March 1981) is an Australian professional triathlete and a three-time IRONMAN World Champion, still holding the marathon course record in Kona. During her outstanding career, she has won IRONMAN Austria, IRONMAN 70.3 Brazil and Challenge Roth, among others. In 2018, she is getting back to competition after her maternity break.

Timothy O’Donnell (born October 1, 1980) is an American long-distance triathlete. The multiple IRONMAN World Championship qualifier and the 2015 bronze medalist. He’s a winner of IRONMAN Boulder, runner-up of 2015 IRONMAN Latin American Championship and the 2012 IRONMAN 70.3 US Pro Champion.

It is a great news for the whole triathlon community here in Poland and for us, the race organizers, too – says Piotr Jakóbik, Marketing Director for Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia. – Rinny has a legend status already and TO has accomplished some great things in his career too. We look forward to seeing them race in Gdynia together with athletes from more than 40 different countries from all over the world – he adds.
Big names have a history in Gdynia. The „city of dreams and sea” joined IRONMAN 70.3 circuit in 2015 and had Nils Frommhold as the first winner. The German once finished 6th in Kona and is a winner of the Challenge Roth.

In 2016, Ivan Tutukin took the win at the Gdansk Bay while Diana Riesler – a regular on the IRONMAN podium - was crowned female winner. Last year, Boris Stein – the author of the fastest bike split in Kona in 2016 - put on a great performance finishing in 3 hours 52 minutes. Two months later he finished 10th in the IRONMAN World Championship.

Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia is scheduled for August 5th, 2018. The race involves swim part in the Gdansk Bay, after which athletes head out of the city for a picturesque bike ride through the hilly and green Kashubia region. Once back, they go for a run along the crowdy streets and sea boulevards in Gdynia, finishing on the famous city beach in Gdynia – one of the popular holiday destinations in the country.
