
Olympic champion in triathlon at Beijing-2008, German athlete Jan Frodeno sets a course record at the 2019 Vega IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019. He also won his third world championship title in the most famous competition in triathlon!
Jan Frodeno clocked a time of 7:51:13, almost a minute and a half better than the former world record (at the Kona course) set last year by his fellow countryman, Patrick Lange.

The IRONMAN World Championship on the Big Island of Hawai’i is the most prestigious endurance race in the world. The IRONMAN Triathlon is a non-stop one-day race including a 3,86 km swimming, 180,2 km bike and 42,2 km run!

The famous American triathlete Tim O’Donnell finished in second place with a time of 7:59:40. This is another great fact – in 2018, Tim also won a Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia with course record in the top 70.3 race in Central-Eastern Europe.

Jan Frodeno is now the fourth man, and first German triathlete, to win three IRONMAN World Championship titles.

Anne Haug from Germany, wins her first Vega IRONMAN World Championship title on the back of a blazing fast 2:51:07 marathon.
– “The whole run felt pretty amazing. I just concentrated on myself and tried not to over pace. It worked pretty well,” – said a smiling Haug at the finish line.

2019 Vega IRONMAN World Championship in numbers
• 2,500 of the world’s top triathletes competed in Hawaii at the 2019 Vega IRONMAN World Championship
• From 18 to 86 years old athletes and have earned their championship opportunity by qualifying at one of more than 40 IRONMAN events worldwide.
• The USA is the most represented nation with 659 registered athletes, followed by Germany (279), Australia (193), United Kingdom (162) and Canada (99). Other athletes from countries as far as Bermuda, Iceland, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia are traveling from around the globe for their shot at a title.

• 73% of registered participants (1,783 athletes) are male
• 27% of registered participants (669 athletes) are female
• 44 is the average age of all registrants
• Hiromu Inada (JPN) is the oldest male participant at 86, while Valentin Carboniero (DEN) is the youngest at 20
• Dexter Yeats (USA) is the oldest female participant at 74, while Pauline Anouk Chloé Dauvergne (FRA) is the youngest at 18
• More than 5,000 volunteers maked the Vega IRONMAN World Championship a success
