
The Bieg Piastow Skiing Marathon 2019 took place on 1-3 March at the cross country ski resort of Jakuszyce in Jizera Mountains, Lowers Silesia. Jakuszyce is a part of Szklarska Poreba – one of the most popular tourists spots in south-western part of Poland.

The Bieg Piastow Skiing Marathon first ran in 1976 with just 261 finishers. Today the event has grown into a few day winter festival of sport, consisting of marathon and family races, the highlight being the 50 km race on Saturday in first weekend of March. The whole event takes place in the popular ski resort of Jakuszyce in the Jizera Mountains of south-western Poland, near the border with the Czech Republic. The area is famous for its natural undulating tracks through the forest.

The Polish Bieg Piastów is a part of Worldloppet – the biggest international series of cross-country skiing marathons for everyone. Only one and the best ski marathon from a country can be a member of Worldloppet.

– Support around the track were great! – said Justyna Kowalczyk during ceremony winners of Bieg Piastów 50 km CT. Kowalczyk – 4-times World Cup Winner, Olympic and World Champion, called The Queen of Polish Skis, she was started in Bieg Piastow the second time in the biggest polish cross country skiing race. The track was iced and very fast.

The best of Bieg Piastów are beautiful, natural tracks, with downhills and uphills, in forest of Jizera Mountains – train and start here is an invaluable lesson on nature, a chance to meet rare fauna and flora. It is a unforgettable adventure, not only for sport reasons, but both for the young and old explorers of the world of plants and animals, which is always at your fingertips in Jizera. Jizera Mountains are also great place for biking, running, nordic-walking and backpack exploration.
