2020 IRONMAN 70.3 St. Petersburg: the great triathlon for the first time in Russia!

The world famous brand of IRONMAN Triathlon for the first time in Russia! IRONMAN 70.3 St. Petersburg will take place in the beautiful architectural landscape of Saint Petersburg city on July 19, 2020.

The brand of “IRONMAN 70.3” is a long-distance triathlon race consisting of a 1,93 km swimming, 90 km bike ride, and 21,1 km run. The 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 St. Petersburg will include three race categories: men’s, women’s and kids races.

The race will take place in Russia’s second largest city, St. Petersburg, dubbed “Venice of the North” because of its many waterways. The city is “Russia’s capital of fine arts” thanks to its 221 museums, 2,000 libraries and 80 theatres, not to mention the many “palaces, guilded steeples and significant artworks along its canals.”

While the overwhelming majority of the athletes in the event’s first edition are from the host country, competitors from 42 nations and regions will toe the starting line in IRONMAN 70.3 St. Petersburg 2020, the country’s culture capital. Female athlete registration is at 13% versus males at 87%.

The course includes a 1,9 km swim in the historic St. Petersburg rowing channel. The 90 km bike course begins on the Yacht Bridge and works its way down the St. Petersburg sea wall to the walled town of Kronstadt, part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Historic Centre of Saint Petersburg and Related Group of Monuments. The three-loop bike course includes 435 m of climbing. The racing day ends with a 21,1 km run course on Yelagin Island before finishing near the Gazprom Arena stadium.
