
Jan Frodeno wins in the fifth edition of the Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia triathlon, achieving a fantastic time of 3:39:35 and literally crushing the current record of Gdynia’s “half”! Amelia Rose Watkinson triumphed in the women’s race with a time of 4:06:50.

The day before the start, Jan Frodeno said – «I came to win! I am fully focused on this race».

And in the race day his “form test” led to a great victory with very fast result at the technical, beautiful course of the Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia.
” – Many thanks for cheering and support. You are the bests! Frodeno shouted at the finish line to the crowd of cheering fans”. – “A great day, a great route and lots of fans. This is definitely not my last start in Gdynia” – announced the 2-time IRONMAN Triathlon World Champion, Jan Frodeno.

Gold Olympic & World Champion in the 70.3 distance was first out of the water and lead at the front for the finish line of the race. Kilometer by kilometer he increased his lead on the bike, which was 2:30 by the 60 km point. At that point his countrymen Maurice Clavel and Ruben Zepuntke had moved into second and third place and the order remained the same starting the run.

After a 2:02:01 bike course, Frodeno continued to power away on the run. During the first lap he increased his lead over Clavel by more than a minute and, by the end of the race, Jan Frodeno finished the event in the Polish resort town on the Baltic Sea – 3:39:35! The silver medal won of Maurice Clavel (GER), who finished in 3:43:43. Bronze went to Miki Taagholt from Denmark – 3:46:27.

The first 19 male triathletes smashed the 4h:00 time limit of the Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia! This is a very high level of results, considering open water swimming in the Baltic Sea and hilly bike course at the Polish Kashubia region.

Amelia Rose Watkinson from New Zealand – the best among women in the Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia, her time of 4:06:50! She overtook the triumphant of the Gdynia triathlon competition two years ago, Lisa Huetthaler (AUT) – 4:15:37. The third place was awarded to the British triathlete, Susie Cheetham (4:17:43).
” – I am in Poland for the first time, but I like it here. The fans really helped us today!” – said Amelia Rose Watkinson, winner of the triathlon IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia.

Throughout the big triathlon weekend, Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia, nearly 4.000 competitors from 58 countries took part in the races.
The main Sunday competition was preceded by the Friday youth aquathlon Wiśniowski IRONKIDS Gdynia and Saturday’s competition at the Sprint Triathlon distance.
