Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia 2018: Open Water Swimming course in the Baltic Sea

Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia is one of the biggest triathlon event in the Central and Eastern Europe. Every year in the first days of August, almost 2,500 athletes from 50 countries of the world arrive to Poland, their common goal – awesome race course in the Kashubia region: is a 1,93 km swim in Baltic sea, the very beautiful bike course (90 km) in Northern Poland and fantastic running stage (21,1 km) in the center of Gdynia city!

In 2018, the heroes of the Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia were – Timothy O’Donnell from USA (3:47:40) and Swiss sports star Daniela Ryf (3:57:54 – WR in Half Ironman distance).

The first stage in Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia is a swimming!

Athletes swim in the Gdansk Bay of Baltic Sea. The swimming race distance – 1,93 km (official standard of Half Ironman Triathlon – «70.3 ®»).

Usually the average temperature of water at the summer time of year in the Baltic Sea is about + 17-20 °C. However, the summer of 2018 turned out to be very warm – two days before the race, the water in the sea reached a record mark in 24,6 °C. And on the race day – 23,2 °C! For swimmers it was paradise!
