
The registration to the FINA World Masters Championships 2019 is now open! The event is taking place in Gwangju, Korea, between 5-18 August 2019 with the program including swimming, open water swimming, diving, water polo and artistic swimming.

The 18th FINA World Masters Championships Gwangju 2019 will host 5 competitions: Swimming, Diving, Water Polo and Artistic Swimming in Gwangju City and Open Water Swimming in Yeosu City.
With the FINA World Masters Championships 2019, we want to prove that no matter the age, our swimmers, water polo players, divers, artistic and open water swimmers are still capable to surprise us with their performances.
At the same time, the FINA World Masters Championships are an important challenge in terms of organisation, as one of FINA’s biggest competitions, with over 8,000 athletes taking part. Gwangju to host the six disciplines under one big Aquatics two-week festival.

And although the closing date for entries is Monday 24 June 2019, athletes are advised to submit their applications sooner rather than later to avoid the disappointment of potentially missing out on a place.
A spokesperson for the event organisers said: “Due to the high number of entries expected, the entry process of the different events can be closed anytime by FINA if necessary to ensure a safe and high-quality competition. Therefore, we strongly advise people to register as soon as possible in order to guarantee their participation. The registration for the FINA World Masters Championships 2019 is individual”.

Important Notice from FINA about Registration
• All athletes must submit documentation proving their affiliation to a club belonging to their national federation. A copy of an official ID (resident ID, driver’s license, passport) must also be provided. (Individuals who require a travel visa should please provide a copy of their passport as official ID).
• All competitors must be 25 years or older as stated in the FINA Masters Rules. Competitor’s age shall be determined as of December 31 of the year of the FINA World Masters Championships 2019.

Fees and Entry Procedure
All participants are invited to pay all the fees through the FINA GMS at https://registration.fina.org . Once participants choose the discipline and the event, they must pay a fee in order to be approved. Visa and MasterCard are accepted. A participant receives an e-mail notification of the successful or unsuccessful payment.
If you participated at the FINA World Masters Championships in Kazan (2015) or Budapest (2017), you can access the FINA GMS using your existing username and password created for the previous championships. However, if it is the first time participating, you must create your own account.
The registration deadline is 24 June 2019 (23:59 UTC).

Fees are divided into two categories:
• Registration fee for athletes and accompanying persons
• Entry fee which is paid for each registration by event
Registration Fees (One-off Fee):
• Athletes – USD 65
• Coaches / Support staff only – USD 40
• Participant family members and friends only – USD 40
* If you are participating as an athlete and coach, you should register as a Masters Athlete.
Entry Fees:
• Swimming – USD 18 / event
• Swimming Relay – USD 40 / relay
• Open Water Swimming – USD 45 / event
• Diving – USD 18 / event / competitor
• Synchronized Diving – USD 36 / event / team
• Water Polo – USD 390 / team
• Artistic Swimming Solo – USD 18 / event
• Artistic Swimming Duet, Mixed Duet – USD 36 / event
• Artistic Swimming Team, Free Combination – USD 90 / event
Only coaches and/or captains can register a team. For that, you must be registered as a coach or as an athlete with the additional function of coach/captain. That will allow you to access a specific team entry tab where you will be able to see the members or your club and create a team. Finally you must pay the registration fee for a team.
Registration for Team, Relay and Synchronized Events (Swimming, Diving, Artistic Swimming, Water Polo):
Once a participant is registered, if he/she is nominated as a captain or coach, he/she is able to see the names of the other people who have registered from the same club. Then he/she can select those people in order to create a team to participate in an event. Once the team is complete, he/she must then pay the required fee and the entry is approved upon successful payment.
